Response to A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings

A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings was a very odd story in my oppinion. It was about a family that found a angel in their backyard. At first they did not know what it was but eventually they figured it out. The angel helped them get rich becuase they charged people to come and see him. They were kind of harsh to the angel at first throwing him in the chicken coop to live for a while. I thought it was very weird how they were being mean to the angel. But in the end of the story everything turned out okay. The angel eventually escaped and flew back to wherever he came from. I did not like this story overall.

Sick

Everyone fakes sick once in a while. I woke up one morning with a plan. The plan was to stay home from school today. On top of this plan i had a whole other plan on what I'm going to do when everyone leaves the house. When everyone left the house besides my brother who was home from college at the time I knew what we were going to do. We were going to go to a baseball game at shea stadium. We drove to the train station and took the train to flushing. Once we arrived at shea stadium we bought numerous things with my dad's credit card which was given to my brother for important reasons. Halfway into the 7th inning my brother gets a call from my father saying "Hows the game?" My brother trying to act it off but still shocked by the phone call says "What game?" My dad casually says "The met game." That was when my brother and I knew we were caught. My brother then giving up says to him in a disapointed voice " How did you know?" All my father replies with is "I know all." Later that day we found out that my dad called american express to get his bill on the credit card. I never tried to fake sick again

Response to Go Ask Alice

Go Ask Alice is hands down the best book I've ever read. It is a bout a teenage girl who experiments with drugs. Drugs take her down the wrong path and it follows her everywhere she goes. She has a loving family and a loving boyfriend but everywhere she goes the drugs follow her. She is hooked too. She does drugs like acid, LSD, pot, etc. It is now her job to break the addiction. After she stops doing all the drugs she used to do she moves back into her own home all of her old friends that she used to do drugs with are trying to hook her again. She does her best to stay away from those people but they laced her drink with some acid. She had a bad trip and ended up in a mental hospital. This was like her worst nightmare. Eventually she worked hard to get out of the institute and went back home. She is now clean.

Why Do We Read?

I enjoy reading for many reasons. One reason is that it kills time when you are bored. Another reason is that it improves your vocabulary and educates you. Also, reading can be fun if you have the write book. Don't get me wrong, reading can be terrible if you do not have a book you like. But overall i think reading can be a positive use of time and can be very fun. I think a book is better than a movie for many reasons. One reason is that in a book you can have your own perspective of what is going on and you can use your imagination. In a movie they pretty much tell you everything, for example the setting. These are all many of my reasons for why we read and most importantly why I read.
